High power LED
is one of the most important means to achieve high light flux. There are many advantages and disadvantages to using high-power LED lighting. How to use high-power LED is the key. At the same time, this paper compared high-power LED lighting products with traditional lighting products, and also discussed the application of high-light LED in the lighting field.
I. Development history and potential application of LED
Since the day it was invented, LED has increased in brightness by 30 times and decreased in price by 10 times every 10 years, and has developed rapidly, according to "Haitz's law". At present, ordinary high-brightness white LED has reached the level of 100 lm/W in the laboratory, and 50 lm/W high-power white LED has entered the commercialization. In terms of monochromatic light, the light efficiency of red light, yellow light, blue light and green light has also been constantly refreshed. As a new type of light source, LED has been applied in a wider range and gradually aroused more people's attention and expectations.
At present, led packaging for lighting applications
are diversified in various industries, including indication, display, backlight, lighting, and so on. Lighting is the most potential industry in many LED applications. With the continuous improvement of LED lighting efficiency and the continuous reduction of cost, LED will occupy an increasingly larger market in the whole lighting field. Following the "Next Generation Lighting Plan" of the United States, the "21st Century Lighting Plan" of Japan, the "Rainbow Plan" of the European Union and the "Solid State Lighting Plan" of the Republic of Korea, China established the national semiconductor lighting engineering group in 2003, aiming to integrate resources and rapidly promote the entry of LED into the lighting market. According to the prediction of academician Chen Lianghui of Chinese Academy of Engineering, from 2005 to 2015, China's semiconductor lighting can save 400 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, save 260 billion yuan of electricity charges for users, create 150 billion yuan of output value, and solve the employment of 1 million people.
By then, the annual power saving of semiconductor lighting will exceed that of the Three Gorges Power Station. Under the background of increasing energy shortage, the development of LED lighting is a positive response to the government's proposal of building a conservation-oriented society by taking advantage of LED's energy-saving features.
Ⅱ. High power LED features and comparison with other light sources
LED deserve to be called "green light sources". In the lighting industry, compared with the traditional light source, it shows some advantages that are hard to replace: as a light source for lighting LED has the following advantages:
1. Low power consumption: the LED with light efficiency of 75lm/W consumes about 80% less power than the incandescent lamp with the same brightness;
2. Long life: the life of the product is up to 50,000 hours, 24 hours of continuous lighting can be used for 7 years;
3. Easy dynamic control of brightness and color: continuously adjustable brightness, high color purity, dynamic color transformation and digital control;
4. Flexible shape and size: it can realize the organic integration with the building to achieve the effect of light without light;
5. Environmental protection: no harmful metal mercury, no infrared and ultraviolet radiation;
6. Color: bright, saturated and pure. No filter is required. With so many advantages in one, it makes us feel that vigorously promoting the use of LED is a very valuable work.
However, LED also has some disadvantages compared with other light sources, such as low color rendering in white light. At present, white LED produced by yellow phosphor and blue light has a color rendering index of about 80. It's enough to be a general lighting, but for some places which require high color resolution, it seems to be inadequate. Although the color rendering index can be raised to 90 or higher by adding appropriate red phosphors and other methods, there is still a certain gap compared with the 99 of incandescent lamps, and its efficiency will be affected. Color rendering can also be improved through RGB color mixing, but more needs to be done to popularize the technology. Therefore, in terms of color rendering, LED still needs to be improved. As for the high price and large one-time investment, in fact, from the comprehensive cost consideration, many occasions use LED which can save a lot of cost.
